"whoever desires honor, then to Allah all honors.." (35:10)
honor is something the nowadays societies around look upon.. be it in rankings or status in our workplace on in our degrees..
it is also seen as a great opportunity to be around with people who gain this 'honor' in our life..
in islam, honor is way beyond this, influencing our daily life..
we are to show our mercy and love towards the young, and respect and honor towards our
elders one..
"He is not of us who has no compassion for our little ones and does not honor our old ones” (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)
islam also know the need to conceal other people mistakes and to respect each other privacy..
and doing so, is seen honor in islam..
“If a person conceals the weakness of another in this world, Allah will conceal their
weakness in the hereafter.” (Al Nawawi)
also whenever another muslim is being humiliated verbally or physically, and we help to keep his/her dignity, its what Allah deem this as something big, when others might not so..
“The Muslim who helps another when the latter's honor and dignity are under
attack, shall be helped by Allah, Glorious and Sublime is He! - At a time when he would
wish for Allah's help. But he who forsakes a Muslim, whose dignity is under attack, shall
have Allah forsake him at a time when he would wish for Allah's help." [Al Ghazali]
so, yeah.. lets put our best in gaining honor in this world, not only in the society sight, but at the same time in the sight of Allah..
a reminder and motivation for me, to continue gaining other sides of honors in this life..
