It was a talk on 'thinking'..
Being a muslim, when we are question 'what do you suggest the kind of thinking we say we should have..?'
Mostly, will instantly say, we should have an islamic thinking.. or think in an islamic kind of way..
Well. the speaker say, do not bound our thinking in confining it to only 'islamic thinking'.. in fact, Allah Ta'ala Himself, did place the great thinkers as one of those who top others..
As portrayed in the surah ar-Rum(30), verse 21 & 22, which carry the meaning as below:
"And of His signs is that He created for your from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for people who give thought."
"And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed, in that are signs for those of knowledge."
Where it certainly says here, there 2 types of way people think..
the most common one are those who think merely based on what they saw.. and its not thinking at all..
second, would be the one who thinks, which we define as thinking out side the box..
He, The All Mighty, give us a simple example for us to view..
Allah Ta'ala created woman from part of the rib of a man..
And it is stated on surah an-Nisa (4), verse 1:
"O ye mankind! fear your Lord; Who created you of a single soul and He created the reef the spouse thereof, and of the twain He spread abroad men manifold and women. And fear Allah by Whom ye importune one anot her, and the wombs. Verily Allah is ever over you a Watcher."
the Prophet s.a.w. (peace be upon him) even mentioned this
"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (trouble) his neighbor. And I advise you to take care of the women, for they are created from a rib and the most crooked portion of the rib is its upper part; if you try to straighten it, it will break, and if you leave it, it will remain crooked, so I urge you to take care of the women"
about this, it was even stated in the christians belief, in genesis 2.22">Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man"
(which show that christianity and islamic beliefs do originate from the same source.. yet somehow, somewhere, one of their teachings manipulate itself)
now back to the way of thinking proposed by the speaker, he said,
1. let take an example on a ground near the river where there are 2 different type of trees growing.. there are the Durian Tree and the Chili (red pepper) Tree.. both live in the same place, inheriting the same air and minerals
2. in 2 kitchen, there are two cooks. Both are given exactly the same ingredients, utilities, and the recipe..
so, how did in (1), both tree grew and give in fruits that are definitely different taste, yet each are delicious in its own kind of way.. why do they not mix? when they grew next to one another, gain the same minerals.. and yet, somehow they manage to give fruits with different taste.. why did the red pepper did not have a hint taste of durian and vice versa.. (which if it did so, msian people will certainly plant both trees together to get the 'sambal tempoyak' dish..
and why, in (2), where both cooks are given exactly the same everything, they would finally come up with the same dish, according to their recipes..
thus, yes.. in everything that we do, we do not put aside our islamic way of thinking, but we enhance it further.. in whatever we do.. be it sight seeing, working, driving, and even contemplating the quranic verse.. one should never put aside the different types of thinking as one do assist the other..
