it is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah..(35:28)
Allah will exalt those who believe among you and those who have knowledge to high ranks..(58:11)

That is why, at the beginning of times, when our beloved prophet (pbuh), was given the first revelation, the first and foremost thing Allah ordered Jibril to teach Muhammad (saw) is to Read!
Read! In the name of thy Lord and Cherisher
Who created-
Read! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,-
He Who taught (the use of) the pen,-
Taught man that which he knew not. (al-alaq(96):1-5)
Its give some clear prove that Allah honored among His faithful servants those who seek for knowledge..
And that is just not for this ummah.. It goes way back to the first creation of Adam a.s..
When all angels question the needed for the creation of humans, Allah said, He knows what they know not.. And Allah taught Adam knowledges with He did not taught all the angels. And indeed Adam was able to proclaim what The All Mighty taught him. (2:30-33)
